Memorial Day weekend is just around the corner and for some people, it’s the best time of the year! Why? Because the beaches are finally open and summer has finally begun. People like to welcome the holiday in all different ways. Some host a barbecue, some head to the boardwalk, some take a vacation and some just chill at home with friends and family.
It doesn’t matter how you like to spend the holiday. What matters is that whatever you choose, you can save some money on your plans. Check out these Memorial Day Weekend ideas that will let you have fun all while saving a buck or two!
1) Pool Party
Memorial Day weekend is when the beaches are open for business. But, the beaches can also be really crowded and finding parking or a place on the sand can be a real nightmare. Instead, host a pool party! You don’t need to even have a pool (though if you did, that might make it easier). Check out community pools in your area or hotels that have swimming pools. Just get your new bathing suit and go!
2) Have a BBQ
If it’s not quite warm enough yet to go swimming, but you want to enjoy being outside, anyway. Memorial Day Weekend is the perfect time to host the first barbecue of the season. Invite friends and family over and grill up some steaks, burgers, and dogs. Sit on your new patio set, have some drinks, and enjoy the weather.
3) Take a Trip
With a long a weekend available, it’s a good time to take a vacation somewhere. You don’t need to go somewhere far. You could take a flight to a nearby city or rent a car and go for a drive with the family. It’s also a good time to visit some national parks, many of which will open that MDW!
4) Go Shopping
For many stores, Memorial Day weekend is a time for big sales. Whether you’d rather shop from the comfort of your home on your computer or spend the weekend hitting the shops (with lunch breaks and froyo breaks in between), the deals are calling your name. Don’t miss out! Spend the weekend getting yourself new shoes or fresh makeup!
5) Nothing Special
How often do you get a day off? Let’s be honest. Memorial Day may be your last break for a while if you’re someone who works through the summer. That’s why you deserve more than anyone to just take this holiday weekend off, doing something you like. It could be something as simple as catching a movie, checking out a new restaurant, or ordering some pizza!
