We can’t deny that we now live in a modern world – where technology is growing rapidly every second. In a good way, advanced technology has transformed our lives, making our work much easier with just one click away. And one creation of this technology is the amazing portable computers called laptops.
This small stylish portable computer has done so many great benefits to us especially those who travel a lot. Even kids know how to operate computers nowadays. People were like listing laptops as one necessity on their lives especially if their work requires them to do things online.
One major advantage of a laptop is its portability. It’s not easy to choose which laptop to buy, with hundreds of models to choose from and with different brands. Don’t just go for the cheapest one for not all laptops have different purposes; one varies from the other in the way they are built. You need to choose wisely to avoid dissatisfaction and regret later on thus you save for purchasing again another brand.
So before you compare prices and brands, let’s narrow down your choices.
1. Know the Features You Want for a Laptop
Ask yourself what you will do if you have laptop; what you are going to do with it all the time.
• Are you going to do a lot of multimedia work and gaming?
This will require you to have an i-core or quad-core processors, a dedicated video graphics card, a large high-definition screen and quite high memory like 4GB or 8GB.
• Are you fond of music, movies or entertainment?
Look for larger screen size, higher resolution high-definition displays and with enough hard drive capacity minimum of 512GB (if you opt to have external HD). Make sure that the specification includes a Blu-Ray player and HDMI ports.
• Do you always travel and will bring your laptop for work-related things?
Choose a laptop with built-in Wi-Fi (some lower models have none); longer battery life (8 hours or more) and very portable meaning screen size should not be lower than 13-inch and must be lightweight. For add-ons, choose the one with anti-shock so even if you’re on a train, on a bus or on plane you don’t need to worry about your hard drive crashing.
• Are you looking for something portable but with optimum performance?
Thin and light ultraportable laptops might be the answer, choose higher processor i-core series and around 13″ – 14″ LCD display and high RAM like 4-8GB and at least 512 HD capacity.
2. Choose Your OS (Operating System)
Operating System plays a vital role on the features and performance of your device. However, cost is likely more expensive than the older versions. Some OS requires latest hardware configuration to run. Windows Vista, Windows 7 or 8, Linux, Mac OS X and Windows XP are some examples.
3. So Which Brand?
Top-selling brands today are HP, Dell, Lenovo, Apple, Toshiba, Sony, Acer, Asus and many more. Some people choose the brand that they’re comfortable with especially when they have already gadgets with the same brand. But for others who had a little doubt which can give them utmost satisfaction, you have to read enough reviews from consumers to qualify your chosen brand. Make sure that this brand has thumbs up and has a high rank or stars on consumers review otherwise, you’ll just regret it later on. I suggest that you don’t go for unbranded systems because some time or another you won’t get the value or quality you expected from your laptop and finding yourself buying another one again just for the sake they have cheaper deals and with the same specification as to what you’re looking for.
4. Consider Your Budget
So now we come to the hardest part. You have to allot a certain amount when deciding to purchase a laptop. They’re not that cheap and you have to make sure that what you will buy is guaranteed to stand the test of time. We have to consider our budget so that we could not sacrifice other needs for this one.
5. Compare Laptops and Prices
Okay so now we have to finalize what we really need. The next step is to compare the chosen top brands and their corresponding prices considering we only have this budget. There are sites if your searched it that have a check box on each brand and model and you can have it compared to other brands. If your chosen laptop falls way beyond your budget, consider changing your brand or model but still choose the features that you want for a laptop.
It takes a lot of searching and reading reviews to be able to get your ideal laptop. But don’t rush into buying anything because you can’t find the best deal for you. When I surf for my perfect laptop, it took me around four months to finally be able to decide and choose that this is the one for me. Well, I’m not really in a rush that time to get one.
Learning to wait first and comparing products and prices can really save you money. There are also times when you bumped into a site or stores that offers freebies or kind of discount because they’re doing mega giveaway sale for branded devices. So before paying, make sure that you have no doubt whatsoever, that you really got the features you like and you’re happy with it.
