If you’re like me, you want your kids to have comfortable shoes at school. After all, they are in them all day long, playing at recess, in gym class, and more. You do not want your child distracted by aching feet. That’s why I start with great sneakers and build the rest of our back to school wardrobe around them. A great sneaker can be pricey, but a worthy investment if they are for daily use. Check out these fall favorites:
For the super fashion conscious:
This sneaker is for the kid who is one step ahead–no pun intended. These Ash Kids Vava high tops are as cool as they come. A bit more geared toward girls, but can work either way. Get these in a variety of colors, including pink. This is for the kids who doesn’t mind standing out a bit. Grab them at Zappos for $90.
For the trend followers:
The Adidas classics are all over the tabloids thanks to the Jenner sisters. All of Hollywood, young and old are doing the Adidas classics thing. Grab the Stan Smiths, or the Superstars for a clean look that goes with pretty much everything–male or female. For smaller kids, they come in Velcro. If mom wants a pair, get your size in kids–they’re cheaper! Get these Stan Smiths for $55 at Foot Locker.
For the trendsetter:
Our favorite sneaker this season is from J. Crew. They are totally 70s vintage, and the kid who wears these is making a statement. This is the kid who is too cool for latest trends and goes with a sneaker no one else is wearing–in fact, it’s a sneaker mom or dad might have worn thirty years ago. We love this classic track shoe because of the bold color options and the fact that you have to own this look!
For the super-active kid:
Nike Air Max is a great choice for the kid who runs outside as soon as homework is done. The tried and true Air Max sneaker is great for kids who are not only on their feet all day, but who are active all day. These shoes have tons of support, including shock absorbers, arches, and cushioning. Find them at Nike.com.
For the prepster:
The Sperry Top-siders never go out of style. We love the fact that Sperry is no longer just a summer shoe. Kids are wearing the prep inspired footwear all year long and Sperry has a variety of styles that don’t lose the classic look of the Top-sider. Check out new fall styles at Sperry now!
