In the Northeast we still have a bit to go before school lets out for summer but, I know some of you in the south are very close to the end of the school year. If you buy your child’s teacher a gift at the end of the year, you might be stumped with ideas of what to get them.
I think teachers probably have enough mugs, pencil cups and notepads than they know what to do with. That is why I want to share some ideas for gifts that teachers really want. In order to get them something they want, you need to know what their hobbies and interests are. The easy way to find this out, is to ask your child about their teacher. Chances are they know.
My second grader told me we had to get something with owls for his teacher because she loves and collects them. Once you know a little more about your child’s teacher’s interests, it is easy to find a gift that speaks to what they are passionate about.
Fresh Fruit Basket
Buy or make up a basket filled with fresh fruit for the teacher that likes to eat healthy. I prefer to make them myself so I can pick the fruit and add embellishments. There are all kinds of baskets you can purchase inexpensively at stores like Walmart or Christmas Tree Shops. Next, fill it with the freshest fruit in season where you live. Wrap it up in cellophane and tie it with a bow. Add a handmade card from your child listing what he/she liked most in their class this year.
Gift Cards are always appreciated, especially ones to stores like Amazon that have such a wide range of products. For the coffee lover, Starbucks or Dunkin’ Donuts gift cards are a great choice. If your child’s teacher loves listening to music, an iTunes gift card might be a good idea.
Is your child’s classroom filled with plants? Get the teacher a nice plant or even a gift card to a local garden center so they can get exactly what they want. Maybe your child’s teacher is a DIY guru, fixing up her house or always starting another project. In that case, a Home Depot or Lowe’s gift card would be a great idea.
Does your child’s teacher love to take photos? If so, a gift card to a site like Snapfish would make an excellent gift, and allow her to make prints, photo books, cards and more.
A Photo Canvas
If you have photos from class trips, plays or other events, consider making a photo canvas collage. It is a nice way for the teacher to remember that year’s class. They can even hang it on the wall of their classroom. It will allow the incoming class to see some of the fun things they might be doing. You can make one on Shutterfly and be sure to check out the promo codes on this site for great deals before you shop.
Pamper Their Pet
If you child’s teacher has a pet they talk about all the time, consider a gift for their furry family member. If their pet isn’t furry you can still find all kinds of gear, toys and treats for just about any kind of pet at PetSmart. If you are stumped, a gift card to the store will work well.
With a little insight from your child, you can gift their teacher something she will really appreciate this year to thank her for all her hard work and dedication.
