Everything You Need for Your Labor Day Bash

It won’t be long before the last ‘hurrah’ of summer is here. Labor Day is just around the corner, and it’s a perfect way to celebrate ‘the end of summer.’ Labor Day is often a time of gatherings- good food, friends, family, and lots of fun! There are a lot of different ways to spend the holiday if you are lucky enough to enjoy some time off from work. Many folks like to hit the beach for one last awesome family beach trip before many schools start for the new school year. Others like to kick it old school and have one final BBQ blowout of the season. Whether you’re grilling our at the beach or in your backyard, we’ve got some great ideas to make your Labor Day Bash a huge success, and a ton of fun for everyone!

You’ll need a working and reliable grill. One of the major tools that most cooks rely on to help make their Labor Day party a success is a trustworthy grill. You, of course, have the option of using a gas grill or a charcoal grill. Which one should you use? It all depends on how you want the food to taste. If you enjoy the smoky, charbroiled flavor of meats and other grilled foods, you’ll likely want to go with a charcoal grill Just make sure that you have charcoal and other charcoal grill necessities handy when it comes time to fire up the grill and start grilling. For a cleaner taste, you’ll want to use a gas grill. It’s easy to start a gas grill, just by making sure the propane gas tank is turned on, and pressing the ‘ignite’ button on the grill when you’re ready to light it. No matches involved. No matter which style you prefer, you can find the perfect grill at Home Depot, and save up to 10% off all grills and smokers.

You’ll also want to make sure that your guests have comfortable places to sit, especially if you plan to spend a lot of time outdoors. Having a nice set of outdoor furniture can really set the stage for guests to make themselves feel more at home. Choose an area of your deck or patio to add a sitting or conversation area to. A nice and cushioned outdoor sofa and a set of chairs with a coffee table in between can make the perfect area to sit and relax, or even enjoy a drink and a meal. Save up to 50% off on seasonal clearance items including select patio furniture and outdoor decor at Lowe’s. Adding a few decorative touches like throw pillows, lanterns, and some greenery will make the area feel like an outdoor extension of a living space.

Offer some friendly yard games. There’s no better way to pass the time (while you’re waiting for food to finish cooking) than to play some fun outdoor games. There are so many games to choose from, and if you have enough space in your yard, you can set up multiple playing areas for different games. If you have young children in attendance, don’t forget to add an area for them to play in. A water table can provide loads of fun for splashing and playing, and it’s a great way for them to stay cool on a hot day. Hula hoops and bubbles are inexpensive items that can be picked up at a Dollar Tree store, and won’t cost much if you don’t plan on using them again. For the grown ups, set up a badminton set, an area for croquet, and perhaps an area for corn hole or lawn darts. Have a group of friends join in for a challenge to make it extra fun!

Don’t forget to have plenty of food and drinks for your guests. Use paper plates and napkins, and plastic cutlery, which can be recycled. This cuts down on the number of dishes you’ll wind up having to wash after it’s all said and done. Do take the time to enjoy yourself and interact with your guests, too! Remember- this just might be the last summertime bash of the year!
