Hewlett Packard commonly known as HP was founded in 1939. The company was the brainchild of Stanford University classmates Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard. The company was actually started in a Garage where they built their first product which was an electronic sound testing equipment. Walt Disney studios was one of the first to purchase one of these equipments as these were needed by their sound engineers.
The company went on to own the property where the garage stood and they had it restored to the 1939 conditions. The property now stands as it were all those years ago so future generations may see what is was like back then. The Garage become an historical landmark in 1985 with subsequent recognitions in 1987 and 1989. The house and other buildings that were on the property were also restored to their original state as they were built in 1905.
HP has gone on to be one of the leading companies in technology with operations in more than 170 countries worldwide. Their headquarters is located in Palo Alto, California, USA.
