Are you sweating?  You’re not alone.  A ton of people procrastinate gift buying around holidays.  Last week we talked about some gift ideas for mom that aren’t flowers.  You can still use them if you’ve got the time.  But if you don’t, and you know yourself well enough to know that you’ll be defaulting to flowers, you might want to place your order yesterday.  Luckily, we’ve got some last minute savings deals that will make  your procrastination seem like it’s paying off.

Discounts From Your Local Florist

Many local florists have discounts and sales this time of year.  If you place your order as soon as possible, you may be able to get in on them and still get your flowers delivered by Mother’s Day. You can even do this through sites like FTD, where many of their bouquets online can be delivered locally.  Right now they have a 20% off sale for Mother’s Day.  In many areas delivery is still available for May 10, but most florists will have flex delivery over the weekend.  That means your flowers could arrive either Saturday or Sunday.  That’s no so bad, considering either way she’ll have them to enjoy on her big day!

Consider An Early Celebration

Some florists will charge you extra over the weekend. is one of them.  It’s typically less than $10 for the holiday delivery, but they do offer something pretty cool that just may save you:  same day delivery.  The prices start at $25.49.  If you find yourself scrambling on Friday, place your order first thing in the morning and you will be good to go without paying the weekend delivery fee, as long as a local florist still has availability.  You may be a couples days early, but mom will appreciate that a whole lot more than being a couple days late!

Get Free Shipping, Fast

If flowers aren’t the route to mom’s heart, odds are you can find some type of gift basket that is.  Businesses like The Fruit Company are well aware of their appeal to matriarchs, and are offering free shipping on a lot of items for the holiday.  The shipping isn’t just free; it’s fast.  For example, you can get free 2-day shipping on an artisan fruit and cheese basket.  Even better?  Deluxe chocolate dipped strawberries ship for free overnight.  There’s oodles of delicious items that will get to you on time without paying outrageous shipping fees.
