Summer means vacations, trips to the beach and baseball games at the park with your kids. It’s a fun time for families and children of all ages. It’s a time for us to get outside and get more active. We often work fewer hours and take extra time to devote to the family. Warmer weather means that many of us will be outside gardening, exercising or enjoying a walk around the neighborhood. When you’re thinking about what to buy for your summer cookout and what snacks to pack for that long car trip, make sure you consider how you’re going to care for your skin this summer. With the extra exposure to the sun and chlorine, it’s important to remember to pay extra attention to your skin during the summer months.
When you’re thinking about what to buy for your summer cookout and what snacks to pack for that long car trip, make sure you consider how you’re going to care for your skin this summer. I know that it’s not often something we think of when we hear the words summer vacation, but you don’t want to overlook skin care. With the extra exposure to the sun and chlorine, it’s important to remember to pay extra attention to your skin during the summer months.
Never go outside without properly protecting your skin from the sun. You should protect your skin even on cloudy days using a sunscreen with at least SPF 40 like the one from Skinbotanica. Remember that children need a sunscreen with a higher SPF than an adult. If you are in and out of the water at the beach, be sure to apply a waterproof sunscreen and reapply it regularly to be sure that you’re protected.
Moisturize More Often
Exposure to the salt in the water and the chlorine at the pool can dry out your skin. Be certain that you remember to use moisturizer on your face and a good quality body lotion on the rest of your body. Look for moisturizers and creams that contain shea butter or coconut oil for deep down moisture your skin craves during the summer months. The Body Butter from Glow Recipe is one of my favorite ways to pamper my skin.
Cover it up
When possible, remember to cover up while you’re out in the sun. The best way to care for your skin during the summer is to protect it from over-exposure to the sun. That means you should wear a beach hat, sunglasses, and a beach cover up while you’re outside. Try to spend more time in the shade than in the sun. When you do go out into the sun, remember to protect your lips as well with an SPF lip balm like the one from Rescue Spa. Chapped lips are never fun.
Remove Extra Oils
The hotter temperatures during the summer time can cause an increase in oil product which in turn leads to oily skin. It’s important to remove the excess oils and dirt from your pores to prevent acne. You can remove excess oils from your facing using a bit of facial toner or face tonic from Living Libations on a cotton ball.
Before you head out on vacation or to the beach with your family, be sure that you stock up on everything you need to take care of your skin this summer. It’s always better to be prepared.
