Are you freaking out because Black Friday and Cyber Monday are over, but you still have names to cross off your Christmas list?
Never fear! December has some great deals, too. In fact, the best things to buy this month based on annual sale schedules just happen to look great in a stocking or under the tree. We’ve got all the info you need to be a smart, savvy shopper, and still make everyone happy over the holiday season.
The best time of the year to buy toys is actually the second week of December. This is when retailers still have stuff left on the shelves and sales are at their peak. You can wait until later to try to find stuff on clearance, but you run the risk of missing out on that item your child or niece or nephew really wants—especially if it’s a popular item.
To save even more on toys, be sure to keep tabs on Toys R Us promo codes during that second week. Combining sales with coupons is an epic win.
Blu-Rays and DVDs
Whatever genre your giftee is into, there is a good chance that you’ll be able to find a flick they will enjoy and appreciate at a seriously discounted rate. Sales on blu-rays and DVDs start on Black Friday, but they don’t stop until the calendar turns over to 2016.
You’re going to have to sit on your hands for this one, but the absolute best time of year to purchase holiday décor is at the end of December. As the holidays creep closer, you’ll notice that prices will start tumbling, but they’ll be at their rock-bottom best that week between Christmas and New Year’s Day. Because you’re likely not yearning after a specific Christmas decoration in the same way that your kids are yearning after a specific toy, there’s no harm in waiting for these clearance deals. We also like Walmart and Target for this category, but you can check out drug stores, too.
Champagne and Wine
Depending on your state law, you may be able to pick these up at your grocery store or you may have to go to the state-run store. Either way, you’re likely to see some discounts before all the holidays, especially New Year’s. You can also purchase online and save a little more by using promo codes at places like Wine.com.
Restaurant Gift Cards
How can you get a good deal on something that you’re paying face value for? Well, in December, a ton of restaurants incentive their gift cards. If you buy a $25 gift card, they’ll give you an additional $5 voucher, or some other deal of the like. That makes the holiday season the savviest time of year to buy a meal out—even if you don’t spend the gift card until July.
Just be careful. A lot of those vouchers do come with expiration dates, even if the gift card doesn’t. If you’re giving it as a gift, you’ll want to make sure the giftee is aware of that fact, as well.
Here on Promos Pro, we have an upcoming post that will highlight the best of the best for these restaurant gift card deals. Be sure to check back regularly so you don’t miss it!
