Your Perfect Winter Coat

‘Tis the season for coats. The pea coat isn’t going to cut it anymore. The coats on the runways for this season are all about personality. You should wear it like a piece of your wardrobe, especially if you are a city dweller. Here some of the most popular this season:

The Moto Jacket

The moto jacket has taken the world by storm. It may not be your first choice for total warmth, but definitely for fashion. The moto jacket isn’t just coming in black these days; it’s coming in plaid, with fur trim, block colors and more. The Gap does the moto jacket well–they have one for each season, including a moto “sweater” and even a moto puffer jacket. From left: H&M ($99), Jessica Simpson ($49), Mossimo ($45).

The Cape Coat

The classic cape coat looks amazing with dress and high pair of gloves, but it’s totally practical, especially if you hate to wear a coat while driving, or shopping. It gives you more room and freedom of movement. Like the moto jacket, this can be worth an investment because they don’t really ever go out of style. Go for something classically retro or completely modern. From left: Nasty Gal ($79), Ted Baker ($348), Zara ($189).

Shearling and Fur

Again, timeless classics. Fur is everywhere this season, made even more popular by the hit series Scream Queens. Add on fur collars are great–use them on coats or spice up a plain sweater. Fur collars are the new statement necklaces. We’re obsessed with retro prints on a fur canvas. And of course, there is nothing warmer than shearling. Love.
